Worlds Away
Music and lyrics by Various | With new songs by Megan Robinson
Book by Quin Brunner, Sarah Campbell, Luke Derrick
‘Worlds Away’ is a collection of three short musicals. Each musical explores a unique perspective on being worlds apart - or Worlds Away - from those around you, and the differences that can exist in how each of us view our experiences. The Worlds Away cast take on multiple roles throughout the show, weaving stories about delightful, terrifying, thought-provoking and comedic events, bringing them to life with music stylings from some of your favourite musicals and pop singers.

Director’s Note
“2020 was a hell of a year. Both figuratively and literally for a lot of people around the world. For MacMS it meant a year without theatre and our musical community, so to be putting on our first show in over 12 months is so so exciting.
When Luke and Quin first came to me with a pitch for our first show in 2021, the idea was to do some sort of jukebox-style musical that would largely be online, and instead we've ended up with not one, but three small shows in an actual live performance space.
Worlds Away is at turns over-the-top-ridiculous, emotional, silly and heartfelt.
Our three shows, Zombody to Love, Isolation in Bloom, and Straight A are wildly different, yet all built around the theme of being worlds apart, or Worlds Away, in one way or another.
The cast of Worlds Away are a truly talented, enthusiastic and hilarious group of people who have been such a blast to work with. Rehearsing with them has been a delight, and I can't wait to watch them take to the stage every night.
I need to thank Dom for putting together an amazing band and orchestrating so many of the songs (and the band for being amazing), Quin for making everyone sound so wonderful, Ash, Aidan and Erin for all their hard work making the tech come to life in a new theatre, Megan for writing us two new beautiful original songs for the show, and Domi and Peter for all their hard work making sure the show runs smoothly. Also, of course, my producer Luke - who overcame every challenge to make sure we had a theatre and a show to put in it, and kept everything running behind the scenes.
With all that said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the shows.”
Zombody to Love - Book by Luke Derrick
Armageddon cross villain origin story cross comedy. A group of survivors stumbles inside, exhausted and bloodied from their last encounter with the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.
